A 100 year old facility is getting some cutting edge technology installed this week. Preparing for a busy fall and winter season at the Mae Wilson Theatre, the staff are working on upgrades to the iconic, 100 year old facility at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre.

New lights are being installed this week that will bring a new experience to the stage according to Lighting Designer Shane Clark. He says they've gone to new technology that will include LED's and programmable lighting.

"We'll have a full array of colour on the stage that we didn't have before plus the life span of an LED fixture is usually 10 years... so we won't have to have the city come in here and build scaffolding and change bulbs."

Clark says the system is now in most of the higher level theatres across North America because the LEDs last for so long and because they don't throw as much heat as a traditional light bulb.

The system is worth just over $100,000 with funding being saved through the equipment reserve.
