Housing numbers are on an upward trend in the Notorious City, February saw 25 transactions with 49 transactions year-to-date.

Also worth noting is that all of the realtor associations in Saskatchewan recently amalgamated into what is now the Saskatchewan Association of Realtors.

Jason Yochim is the CEO of the Association, he explained the changes that occurred.

"What it changed for our member are that our reporting numbers are now geographical to the city. So for example, if a Regina member had gone to Moose Jaw and sold a property, that sale would show up in Regina. So we've geographically broken it out now so it's by the market not by where the member is from that does the sale, so we will see some changes in numbers which may or may not be noticeable to you in the public but it will make a difference."

Yochim also gave his thoughts on what the market could be like in March.

"It's hard to say. The positives that I see are that the average prices have declined so that's going to make it attractive to investors and people wanting to make a move. In most of the markets in the province we've seen a decline in active listings, so with that if the demand is the same you'll have more pressure on sales and hopefully pressure to reverse prices from declining."

Yochim added that what is most important is that people see positive things in the economy so they have more confidence in going into a big investment.
