Two people made their first court appearance facing murder charges on Monday.

20-year-old Sherwyn Pelletier and 24-year-old Thomas Redsky McNab are both facing various charges stemming from an incident on August 17th that resulted in the death of 21-year old Tyrus Ayerst, during what is considered to be a botched robbery.

According to a local prosecutor the pair face very similar charges, including 2nd degree murder, breaking and entering into a home on Flax Road with the intent to commit robbery, wearing a mask and various firearms charges. Matters are now adjourned to September the 4th for the duo, when they will return to the Provincial Court House, and they remain in custody until that time.

They will also need to stand in front of a judge in Federal Court in regards to a bail hearing for the murder charges, but that date is not yet known.

Family and friends of Ayerst are hosting a candlelight vigil Tuesday evening at 8:45 pm on Flax Road sharing stories and memories of him during this time of grief.

Another two people are also facing charges following an incident Monday evening when officers attempted to execute a search warrant. Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth with the Moose Jaw Police Service said the second set of arrests are in relation to the murder.
