On the evening of August 20, 2018, the Moose Jaw Police Service and the RCMP Critical Incident Program conducted a joint operation to execute a High Risk Search Warrant on a residence in the North West area of the city. The search warrant was for evidence related to the homicide that occurred in Moose Jaw on August 17, 2018.

Prior to the High Risk Search Warrant being executed, Police intercepted a person leaving the residence who was found in possession of a loaded handgun. In addition, persons believed to be inside the residence had a known history of violence and involvement in firearms.
