The federal Conservative Party is calling on the Trudeau Liberal's to reverse the decision of putting a convicted murderer in a minimum security healing lodge in Nekaneet First Nation.

Terri-Lynne McClintic was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Tori Stafford in 2010 and was given a life sentence in prison without parole for 25 years and it was announced earlier this week after eight years behind bars she was moved to the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge in December.

Eight-year-old Stafford was kidnapped, raped, and murdered in Woodstock, Ontario in 2009.

Cypress Hills-Grasslands Conservative MP David Anderson said he believes moving McClintic to a healing lodge this early isn't an appropriate action.

"There isn't even a fence around the facility," he said. "Certainly there are children often present as part of their mothers being in the facility as well... What would be a good choice would be for the Liberals to reverse this decision and remove her from there."

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau noted that since 2014 McClintic's security status hasn't changed much and that corrections officials make the decisions.

"Today at least after one day of us insisting that they reverse this decision they've said they're going to review it," Anderson told Swift Current Online. "They actually have the authority to change it and that's what we're asking them, don't just keep talking to us and keep talking to Canadians, get out there and do something, do the right thing, you know in this situation this lady should not be there and it's time to move her back to where she was before."

Anderson added this federal government is disgusting because they only look into things after they get pressure for the opposition parties on files.
