Every November many men take a month long break from the razor to raise money and awareness for issues surrounding men's health.  It's called Movember, and particpation has been high again this year.

Movember started back in 2004 and over the years has raised more than $80 million in Canada alone.  Much of the health focus in the beginning was on men's cancers, but has since evolved to also include men's mental health.

Locally the Moose Jaw and District Paramedics are one of the groups letting the facial hair grow.  Corey McNeice says it's important to get involved.

"They address issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.  They say on average men die about six years earlier than women, so our group is putting together funding and donations for research into men's health."
