With the management portion of Mosaic Place still being deliberated, city officials are assuring residents that they've been working hard on bringing entertainment to our city and will be making some exciting announcements in the near future.

"We're happy to say we've done a lot of work over the last three months and we are ready to start making some announcements about shows coming," said City Manager Jim Puffalt. "We're pretty excited, Friday night is our first one. We're pumped that we're able to bring some talent and concerts back to Moose Jaw. We'll be able to give a whole bunch more details Friday and we actually have another one coming Monday."

The last show that was held at Mosaic Place was in October when Celtic Thunder performed, and the year before that shows were few and far between.

"The goal, of course, was to do 10-12 shows a year and we're glad to say we're on schedule for that for the next May, June, September, October and we're working on a Christmas show which is pretty exciting. We of course have the Scotties in February which pretty much takes up January and February, but we're already getting dates reserved for March. By the time the management company comes on board, we'll have set up certainly the next 6-9 months for them."

Puffalt says they'll be looking through the responses to their RFP for third-party management of Mosaic Place and plan to look through the list soon.

"That's scheduled to go back to council in the middle of March. The report said that it was important that we don't lose any momentum and that we don't lose a year - which would have happened if we waited for a management company to come on board. They have to accustomise themselves to Mosaic and how things are done and how they want to work the facility. It could have been another 6 months before we had a show announced."

Past shows at Mosaic Place include a variety of performers such as Dolly Parton, the Doobie Brothers, Megadeth, John Fogerty, Marianas Trench, The Tragically Hip and Carrie Underwood.
