It's been trying times for Mosaic Place.

Concerts have come to a halt, but they are doing what they can to continue hosting sports teams and activities, all while staying within the public health guidelines.

It was announced on January 14 that the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre within Mosaic Place would be closing its doors for the season, and General Manager of Mosaic Place, Ryan MacIvor, said the decision was a difficult one.

"The business metrics weren't necessarily there and we wouldn't be able to do the whole season, so we had to make that tough decision."

Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the centre.

And while curling has been cancelled for the season, the hockey side of the building is staying busy.

The hockey arena is only allowed eight skaters on the ice surface at one time because of the public health orders, but MacIvor says there's still lots happening.

"We've got figure skating, we've got minor hockey and different user groups using the facility and the ice based on the health restrictions, so that's still positive. It gives that outlet to the community and the youth within the community."

Mosaic Place has also been hosting a virtual 'Centre Stage' concert each Friday, which has featured a number of different local, provincial, and Canadian artists. The shows can be watched live each Friday night at 7 pm on the Mosaic Place Facebook page.
