RCMP are spreading the word about a phone scam that has hit Southeastern Saskatchewan this week.

The callers will falsely represent themselves as part of a legitimate high tech company and then tell a person that they have detected some kind of a problem with the person's home computer. In order to fix it, they need to buy a program and then try to convince the person to provide detailed information, including remote access to the computer.

This makes it possible for the crooks to harvest vast amounts of personal information.
