The City of Moose Jaw announced their plan earlier this month to trash curbside garbage pickup, and starting Tuesday, that change is in effect.

City of Moose Jaw Communications Manager, Craig Hemingway explained:

"Go back to 2017, wherever you were getting your waste and recycling collected - that's where it's returning to. Those residents that got transitioned to curbside as part of that program last August 1st, they return to getting their collection in the alley starting May 1st."

There will be one change, however.

"For anybody that's recieving alley collection, put your bin out for collection day; once your garbage is collected please roll it in by midnight that same day. So those people that have back alley collection are now part of that bylaw."

While the conversation about recycling bins is ongoing, Hemingway would like to remind residents that you can find a list on the city's website of all items that can - and can't - be recycled;

"The last numbers we drew from our own landfill was that about 25% of the material that's getting thrown out is actually recyclable material - most of it plastics."
