All eyes were on Ottawa Tuesday afternoon as Finance Minister Bill Morneau tabeled the federal budget.

Morneau stated "It is a plan that puts people first," which is something Moose Jaw's Lake Centre Lanigan MP, Tom Lukiwski, disagrees with.

Our local Member of Parliament said the budget left him with more questions than answers, and left him confused because a number of topics were not discussed.

"There was not a lot of good news, primarily because the deficit continues to rise with no end in sight," said Lukiwski. "It's close to 19 billion dollars being forecast as our deficit for the upcoming fiscal year. And despite the Liberal government's promise to have a balanced budget by 2019, that's simply not going to happen."

"It really is confusing, for anyone who follows along the budgetary process would be very confused about the priorities of this government. They seem to be spending on programs that don't assist or help the average Canadian."

He went on to say he believes that the core issue would be the mismanagement of money and mistaken allocation of financial resources which were shown in this budget and it will have an impact on residents across the country.

"It doesn't do anything to discuss what's going to happen with the Liberal government's plan on implementing a carbon tax. The priorities of this government, in my opinion, are very misguided and I think that Canadians will start to understand that quite quickly."

Lukiwski also stated that the Department of Finance indicated Canada won't see a balanced budget until 2045, which he says is leaving Canadians with an "awful lot" of debt.
