Moose Jaw's YMCA is stretching out their hand to help refugees.

Fleeing your homeland to try and make a better life for your family on the other side of the world.  It's not going to be easy for the thousands of Syrians that will be coming to Canada over the next few months but the YMCA is hoping to make the transition a little smoother.

"It's a provincial organization the Regina 'Y' (YMCA) Saskatoon and Moose Jaw are all offering free memberships to the Syrian refugees as well were trying to find child care spaces for those families as well," says CEO Jeff Fox.

Fox says these families of refugees will need time to set up their lives in Canada so having someone to look after their child for a few hours each day could really make the difference in all the changes they will have to overcome coming to Canada.

"Right now were preparing for child care spaces, were saving a few at our create and learn child care spaces at Westmount and for membership were ready as soon as they get here. Now I know the community is also planning other things, I don't know exactly what those things are but I know there's meetings planned for next week."

Fox says meetings are being held next week to get a better idea of the preparations that need to be made ahead of refugees arriving over the course of the next few month.

Fox says the YMCA organizations are using their best efforts to make the move for the refugees comfortable and to lend a hand in helping the refugees set up stable environments for themselves and their families coming to Saskatchewan.
