The Moose Jaw Shrine Club is once again taking its annual children’s festival virtually this year.

This is the second time the festival will be held online. It was first held online last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shriner Aaron Ruston said the club is looking forward to once again reaching an audience beyond the city of Moose Jaw.

“Shriners are just looking to plug in and say, hey, we're here and we want to make a difference. We want to entertain the kids. We're about the kids and the family and this virtual children's festival allows us to do that,” Ruston said.

The festival will run on Saturdays at 10 a.m. on the Shrine Club’s Facebook page beginning on July 31. The festival continues on Aug. 7 and 14. It will take a break for a week before wrapping up on Aug. 28.

Some of the events lined up this year include a virtual tour of the Western Development Museum and visits from the Moose Jaw Police Service and Moose Jaw EMS as well as introductions of Shrine members in the community.

“The MC last year was a gentleman from the Weyburn and we thought this year we're going to try and get even more actual local Shriner content involved,” Ruston said.

While registration to take part isn’t required, kids can register on the Shrine Club’s Facebook page in order to collect points by attending events in order to win prizes.

Some of the prizes include a new bike and the youth that collects the most points could win a $1,000 RESP towards their education.
