The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 59 Moose Jaw recently donated a total of $6,100 to five local organizations.

The Parents Sponsoring Committee for both the Army and Air Cadets and Moose Jaw Transition House were three of the recipients.

Barry Young, the Finance Chairman with the Legion, said, "We donate over $9,000 a year. This was our last [donation] for last year."

The Salvation Army and Riverside Mission also received support from the Legion.

Recipient criteria ranged from requests to need.

"We support anyone who needs it, and we can afford it...under the lottery funds. They have to be eligible, of course. We look at everybody. Some people don't know we give out funds. If they ask us, we try to give it to them," Young said.
