Local RCMP found the cash hidden in a vehicle pulled over for a traffic offence on the TransCanada Highway earlier this month.

43 year old Robert Wasnie will never forget getting pulled over on the Trans Canada Highway at Moose Jaw.

The Manitoba man has been charged with money laundering and possession of the proceeds of crime after RCMP seized close to 400,000 dollars in cash. Sgt. Brad Kaeding says the money was in bundles and hidden in the seats and panels of the vehicle.

"Just because it’s indicative of the process that would be used by criminals to hide their resources. The way that it was packaged, the quantities... those are all indicative of criminal activity as far as the investigators have seen in previous histories."

Wasnie will appear in court January 29th. Until then RCMP will try to find out where the money came from and where it was going.
