Moose Jaw, the 33rd most dangerous city in Canada? Thats according to a new list published by Macleans this week, ranking the 239 most dangerous places in the country.

The list ranks the friendly city at 33rd according to their Crime Severity Index, with the number of assaults, sexual assaults, robberies, break and enters, and fraud all going up the past year.

Moose Jaw Cheif of Police Rick Bourassa says they've been tracking the numbers, but are feeling optimistic;

"We track this all the time and its important for us to track it so we know where to focus our activities. We saw increases from 2013 through 2016. As we're looking at our 2017 numbers we do see reductions in that, we do believe that we've been able to get a handle on some of the factors throughout 2017. We've run some projects and done some work, and we're hoping that we do see these reductions".

Moose Jaw was ranked 33rd according to the list, with Saskatoon coming in 22nd, Regina in 20th, Yorkton 13th, Prince Albert 3rd, and North Battleford ranking 1st.
