The 2018 Estevan Pride Week is now underway, beginning this past Sunday with a service at St.Gile's Anglican Church and continuing through the week with a variety of community events.

And despite Estevan being located in the Southeast corner of the province there was a familiar group in attendance showing their support and helping with the celebrations.

On Monday, the rainbow Pride flag was raised at Estevan City Hall to commemorate the local observation officially with Moose Jaw Pride's Executive Director, Joe Wickenhauser, there to help coordinate the Pride Week events.

"It's an opportunity for the community to come out," explained Wickenhauser. "to be apart of the official Pride week here in Estevan. "I think it was a great show of support. We had a good crowd show up and I think that it's awesome when a city like Estevan is so happy to raise a pride flag and show their support for diversity."

He and the group at Moose Jaw Pride will be continuing those efforts locally in a month and a half when Moose Jaw's Pride week takes place.

Our local pride week will be on July 22nd-28th, for more information click here
