Moose Jaw Pride want to make sure you aren’t left out in the cold this winter.

Located at 345 Main St. N., Pride opened a temporary warming centre in the same building as Pride’s office and Rainbow Retro on Jan. 14.

The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it is free of charge. It’s a place you can get a hot drink and a snack if you need it.

Moose Jaw Peer Navigators are also on hand to people access community services.

“So, the intent is really to get people out of the cold. Perhaps that will even prevent things like frostbite and hypothermia,” said Pride Peer Navigator Elliece Ramsey.

The warming centre has already gotten a positive response from the community. On Monday, Moose Jaw Pride received a cheque for $1,000 from Journey to Hope to go towards the warming centre. Family Pizza also supplies a free pizza lunch every Friday.

The warming centre does comply with the public health orders, so masks are mandatory and patrons must adhere to physical distancing.
