New life for some of our cities lost murals.

Fires, demolition and wear and tear have all taken their toll, but local Moose Jaw artist Grant McLaughlin has brought 6 of Moose Jaw's lost murals back to life.  The reproductions can be found on the side of McKarrs Furniture at 88 2nd ave. NW.

Remembering Old 80, River Street Red, Moose Jaw's Inauguration, Celebrating Ukrainian Heritage, the Union Hospital mural and the Summer Games mural are all part of the project.  The work took most of the summer and fall to complete.

McLaughlin told us how the idea for the restorations came to be.

"As we kept losing murals the idea came that it would be nice to replace them.  Two or three in particular were ones that people missed.  Our very first one Remembering Old 80, and I think River Street Red was a favourite one".

Remembering Old 80 was on the side of the Royal Hotel and was lost to demolition.  River Street Red was lost in a fire at the corner of High Street and 1st ave.
