Sharon Gallup is sick of skunks.

Gallup, who lives in northwest Moose Jaw on Carleton Street, has been dealing with the smelly critters for a few years now, with no clear solution in sight.

"This year seven, last year four, the year before three and the year before that is four," Gallup said of the 18 skunks she and her husband have captured in a trap given them by the City of Moose Jaw.

However, Gallup would like to see more action directed at what she believes is the source of the problem - a neighbour's disorderly yard.

"Things have been piling up," said Gallup of the yard that is hidden from plain sight and backs onto her property. "The trees have gone wild, the fruit trees have started to rot, animals have found a nesting home and they're all gathering.  I get really worried...I know skunks can (carry) rabies."

Gallup says she has complained to the city, but believes that because of the neighbour's yard location, they've been able to escape and warnings because the issue is "out of sight, out of mind."

"I don't know what more to do," said Gallup. "I've written letters and can't seem to get anywhere."

The City was contacted about the skunks, and say a bylaw enforcement officer will investigate.
