Every year on December 6th, we take a moment to remember 14 women who lost their lives back in 1989 during a mass shooting in Montreal.

Riverview Collegiate hosted the Grand Mother Moon Symposium Thursday with a candle light vigil for the victims and to share information regarding violence and why it needs to stop.

"We need to reach students whether it be in Grade 1 or all the way to grade 12." said Facilitator, Lois Thomson. "So that they take forward the information ad the knowledge and power to make sure that this doesn't happen."

Schools in the city were also able to view the presentations through a live stream video link.
