Today is the final sitting in the Saskatchewan Legislature before the October election, and the final sitting for Moose Jaw North MLA Warren Michelson.

Michelson was first elected in 2007 and said today's sitting will be bittersweet. He goes on to say there are some special things planned for those who will be attending their last sitting.

"They give an opportunity for the retiring members to say a few words, just a reflection of their time at the legislature for the final time. It's kind of special, we can say our goodbyes and it will be the last presentation in the house of the legislative building for me as the representative of Moose Jaw North."

Retiring MLA's will also be able to bring family and friends to the final sitting. Premier Moe and Opposition Leader Ryan Meili will be paying tribute to the 11 MLA's who will be attending their final sitting as well.

Michelson says the province has grown a tremendous amount since 2007. Attracting investment, building schools, healthcare, and improving highways, he says there is a lot to be proud of over the last 13 years.

"The biggest personal gain that I feel for Moose Jaw North was the hospital. It was a huge investment for Moose Jaw. There are other gains obviously as well, the provincial government was instrumental in helping with Mosaic Place and Yara Cente, and now we're building a new school in Moose Jaw."

One thing he would change during his time as MLA is he wishes that some more changes were made to the 9th avenue north/TransCanada intersection, which is an intersection of concern to the ministry. He wishes that the intersection could have been fixed or resolved during his time as MLA.

Michelson went on to thank his thousands of supporters, saying that when he was first elected he only won by 33 votes. Next election, he won by 1700, and that grew, even more, the election after that.

He says it will be tough to walk away from the legislative building and the responsibilities that come with it, but that "it's time".
