The fall session of the Saskatchewan legislature wrapped up last week.

It started with the throne speech on October 24th, and MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow Greg Lawrence says they were able to get a lot accomplished;

"We've introduced some very interesting stuff to become a leader across the country; the first one being the expanded workers compensation coverage for firefighters, we've created the longest maternity leave here in Canada, and we were the first province to introduce Claire's Law".

And according to Lawrence, that's just the start of it;

"We committed another $330,000 to fund 3 existing Moose Jaw Police Service positions. These include positions in the Combined Traffic Safety Services division, which we've expanded to include our highway traffic board officers as well as our conservation officers".

In the speech from the throne, it was also introduced that military veterans will be able to hunt and fish without a license starting in 2019.

"A new legion and Anavets program that will provide funding grants to the Royal Canadian Legion and the Anavets. We've created a new Police and Crisis Team here in Moose Jaw which pairs members of the Moose Jaw Police Service with a mental health professional".

Lawrence says the fall session was a full schedule and that there is still lots of work ahead of them in order to have a balanced budget by next year.
