Moose Jaw Search and Rescue is a community-based charitable organization that - along with help from the Police, RCMP, and Emergency Measures Organization - helps provide ground search and rescue when someone goes missing.

"Our motto is "that others may live," so we spend our time preparing for the possibility of someone going missing," Tami MacNevin, Director of Preventative Search and Rescue explained. "Things that may endanger our community, we do a lot of First-Aid training so that we can respond in the event that we need to."

With around 30 members, volunteers are constantly ready to respond, whether it be on foot or with their dive, horse, or bike teams.

"We'd like the public to know that we are here, [and] we do need more members," MacNevin said. "One pair of hands, one pair of eyes could make the difference between someone's life and someone's death. We are on call 24 hours a day. If we get a phone call, we go out."

If you'd like to become a member of the group, you can visit their website at MJSAR.ca.

The next Provincial Search and Rescue meeting is September in Saskatoon, with a mock search being held in Moose Jaw on September 30th.
