Just on the heels of their Summer Theatrefest, Moose Jaw's Professional theater company is closing their doors. Rubarb Productions sent out to note to teachers and media partners Tuesday afternoon informing them that they have "ceased operation" since September 28th, 2018.

They also stated after crunching numbers and looking over past expenditures, along with the what they would need to invest in for their future it wasn't financially responsible to continue any longer.

Rubarb Productions put on various performances and taught a number of children over the past five years while operating a theatre company and performing arts school. You may recall the professional theatre company made the move into the downtown facility but were evicted soon after. Rubarb officials claimed they were never told why and launched a very public campaign to try and force the boards' hand, even asking citizens to get city councillors involved.

The Cultural Centre Board had tried to keep things between them and Rubarb, but eventually laid it all on the table saying Rubarb had violated their tenancy agreement by expanding out of their allotted space and made unauthorized changes to the building.

The battle in the public and on social media ended when the two sides reached an agreement that would see Rubarb stay in the facility for their summer productions.
