The Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery is celebrating their 50th year in town, and tomorrow, they’re doing it with the community.

On Thursday September 21, 2017, they will also be opening a new exhibition that commemorates their 50th birthday.

“We're having this major showing of these exhibitions because we are kicking off our celebratory 50 years of being an art gallery in the community,” said Christy Schweiger, Education Coordinator for the Moose Jaw Museam and Art Gallery. “We’re kind of looking at our past present and future when looking at our exhibitions.”

The exhibition features diverse and rich visual art that spans from bead work made by the Lakota and Cree people to pieces made by more modern and contemporary artists. It also features art made by members from the Women's Art Association to the current day Moose Jaw Art Guild.

Along with that, two other exhibitions will be opened - "Zane Wilcox: Perceptual Playground," as well as the exhibit "A Rightful Place: The Face of Saskatchewan’s Newcomers".

Not only will all these pieces be shown, but a “birthday” celebration will be held at the art gallery. Starting at 7:30 pm on September 21st, the public will be able to come and spend time looking at the new pieces, enjoying some cake and snacks, and listening to music performer Brodie Mohninger.
