This year you may see some local "royalty" at Canadian Western Agribition.

Lexi Hicks, a 16-year old Mortlach, SK native is the reigning Miss Saskatchewan High school Rodeo Queen, and recalled how she won the crown in 2014.

"Well at our Saskatchewan finals we had a series of different competitions for the Queen between speeches, public speaking, modeling then horsemanship and overall appearance and personality," says Hicks.

She is currently going through her second term with the title and says it's been an historic reign.

"This summer I went down to the national high school rodeo finals in Rock Spring, Wyoming and competed for the national title...I made history as the first Saskatchewan Queen to ever be in the top ten for the national title."

Hicks says she is spending time at Agribition fulfilling her duties as Queen.

"I'm here representing the sport of rodeo and trying to help educate others on agriculture as a whole."

Hicks' family operates Bluestone farms near Mortlach.
