Looking back at 2017, Moose Jaw North MLA Warren Michelson marked his 10th year serving the citizens in the legislature.

"I appreciate the support that the people of Moose Jaw, and Moose Jaw North, have put in me to be the representative," said Michelson.

As he looks at 2017 in the rear-view mirror, one of the biggest changes that comes to mind for Michelson was the amalgamation of the separate regions into one single health authority.

"The health budget, as you know, is almost half of the tax dollars that we take in, it goes into health. So there was a lot of planning, a lot of consultations and understanding that had to go into it. We haven't heard anything negative from it, it seem to be seamless and I'm sure it hasn't been, but it seemed to be seamless as far as patient care. And a great savings as far as the cost of health in the province."

Focusing on our city, Michelson detailed some of the recent projects that may still need some attention.

"Locally, we finished the North Service Road, it was widened and made better, (we're) still working on a few of the issues there because it is a concern to taxpayers and citizens of Moose Jaw. Since they put up the radar there, and slowed down the traffic it has been a lot safer, but there are still concerns and we are working on those."

He also noted that he believes the abundance of growth we've seen over the past few years is just the beginning for our city.

"It's just a matter of time before things break loose in Moose Jaw because of all the connections that we have here. We've got the availability of water, the railways, transportation of highways, it all centers right in the heart of Saskatchewan which is Moose Jaw."

With 2017 labeled a landmark year for Michelson, he's about to see another big change, as the new leader for the Saskatchewan Party will be selected next month.
