Two Moose Javians were given the recognition they deserve from the South Hill Community Association.

Since 1985 they've been extremely involved around the community, including being on the parent advisory committee with schools, being a part of the community association, the Friendly City Optimist Club, Eastern Star, and the Masons - they do it all.

To recognize their outstanding involvement in the community, the South Hill Community Association awarded Lynann and Lloyd Pethick the "South of the Bridge Best Neighbour Award."

"It was a surprise for us, let me tell you. I didn't even know they were doing something like that but they presented it to us at our South Hill Community Association meeting last week and it's an honour," Lynann Pethick said. "It's a real honour."

From baseball tournaments, selling tickets for fundraisers, helping at South of the Bridge Day, or supporting South Hill projects done by kids, if they can help, they help. Along with the recognition they also received a picture of one of the bridges leading to the south part of town.

"We do it because we want to do it, and we do enjoy it," Lynann Pethick added. "Both of us come from such large families, and that's all we've done all our lives is work in the communities where we come from. It's just how we were brought up and what we do and we both enjoy doing it."

The Community Association wrote about the couple, saying "they volunteer and contribute in so many ways, not only with our South Hill Community Association but throughout our city." They also described the two as kind, dedicated, knowledgeable and the best neighbours you could ask for.
