The City of Moose Jaw held a press conference over the phone this morning updating Moose Jaw on the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Fraser Tolmie said Monday night was the first time city council met with councillors calling in remotely. He said Moose Jaw is one of the first cities in the province to conduct business this way.

"We have to recognize that the world is changing, and we have to adapt. This may occur again. We need to respect those who wish to protect their family members by reducing the risk of contact."

Tolmie added that another change that was made will help the city is communicating with the province on a daily basis, allowing measures to be put in place in the city sooner.

"So when they made an announcement on Monday, it takes us 24 hours to implement that so it would come in effect on Wednesday, so now we are able to reduce that time."
