The Marquis Town Carnival kicked off over the weekend, managing to escape the province's thunderstorms and tornadoes over the recent week for some family fun. Many families and kids came out to enjoy the warm weather, and take part in the town's carnival. The event included hay rides, bouncy castles, face painting, music, and much more.

The reason they're holding the Carnival this year is due to an issue the community is facing as a whole.

"We're raising money for a playground in the village as well as in the rural area," said Samantha Millard, an Organizer with the Carnival, "We've had a lot of new families move in here, and currently we have no public playground for anyone to play on, so we definitely need one."

The playground would cost between $50,000 to $75,000, and they've raised over $5,000 in their effort so far, not including what was made at the Carnival itself.

"I'm really glad so far with the turnout, the big idea with this was to have something for the kids, and there's lots of kids here, so that was the goal." Said Millard, who expressed relief in the much-needed break for the town from the dangerous weather.
