Many people might remember Marc Mero as a professional boxer/wrestler and a past WWE Wrestling Champion, but now he dedicates himself to making others champions.

Shortly after his retirement from wrestling, he put his time into becoming an inspirational speaker, telling his life story to people and hopefully making them BADD (Be Against Destructive Decisions).

Now, as "America's #1 School Presenter," Mero travels across the United States to meet with schools and students to give them an inspirational message they may have needed.

You may have seen videos of him online giving his "Mother's Day Speech," which was one of the reasons students from Vanier Collegiate High School and St. Michael's Elementary School were able to hear Mero's presentation Monday afternoon.

After Jason Jones, owner and operator of JJ Soccer Limited, saw this video, one of his first thoughts was to get this guy here to Moose Jaw. He contacted Vanier and that's when they got the wheels turning to get him all the way to the Friendly City.

"For us it's always been about trying to do something large, and affecting the whole community and not even just the soccer comunity but the community as a whole," Jones said. "When I see Marc's video that he had about his Mother's story, it just resonated with me. It was just an opportunity to partner with Vanier and do something for our entire community."

When the presentation began, the bleachers were already packed with students and extra chairs had to be brought out for more students and some special guests. Mero, ever the performer, began the presentation by bringing out his championship belt out and holding it triumphantly above his head.

Throughout his presentation, he shared his story and the mistakes he's made. His ups and downs and successes and downfalls all to help the students understand what bad decisions can do to you. A presentation like this is different because it is someone sharing the story about their life.

"It's funny when you walk up kids are always thinking 'oh gosh its one of those dumb drug talks. Here's your brain, here's your brain on drugs' and they like tune out they're like 'oh this guys going to bore the heck out of me, here comes the wrestler,' but by the time that they start hearing this story, because
I am sharing my story," Mero explained. "I'm not trying to tell them what to do or what not to do, it's sharing my story and making their own choice about what they do with their life - and you can see that it changes to where you could hear a pin drop at the end of the presentaion."

Mero said that his presentation can have such an effect on students that they'll write to him about how his talk helped them in their life or how he helped them believe they could succeed and write an album or become an author.

One thing Mero pushed for during the presentation was to make sure students make the right decisions. That they can do whatever they want if they believe and aim high. Support those around you and that whoever you're with can either bring you down or raise you up.

"There's no greater joy than helping another person and I really found that passion in my life," he said. "They say when you find your passion you never have to work so what it is, is I've been unemployed for the past eleven years because I actually love what I do."
