Even with the summer coming to an end and camping season is mostly over, people still have to take care of their RV’s and water crafts.

Luckily, Anthony Braniff, a Moose Jaw R-V and Marine technician, has tons of tips on winterizing your vehicle, and keeping your investment safe.

One good tip is making sure that your RV is sealed by silicon. “...Windows are sealing properly, silicone in place and not peeling back,” said Braniff. He also added that your roof should be washed to keep the sealant maintained and in the best condition.

Another tip Braniff gave was on critter-proofing your vehicle. He says that rodent killer isn’t going to keep rodents away but attract them in the long run. So you want to get something that will deter them and not use both the deterrent and a killer at the same time as it won’t have the best effect on the vehicle. Braniff also noted to give your vehicle an extensive clean before locking it away.

One last big tip Braniff gave was on drying your RV. “Just blowing it out with air, you're not always guaranteed to get all your water out that way. RV antifreeze is the safest way to do that. Making sure that all the water is out of the lines,” said Braniff. RV antifreeze does not mix with water and will help to maintain your water heater and will help you rinse and flush it out at the end of the season.

It’s always good to go to a technician though, as they will help you better make sure your RV is winterized and will do a thorough check over of your vehicle.
