Every Tuesday, you can join Moose Jaw's Christy Oxborrow and her cousin for their podcast True Crime and Cocktails.

Oxborrow's cousin is Lauren Ash, which may be a familiar name to some. Ash plays Dina in the NBC TV show Superstore. Ash is the voice of Scorpia in the cartoon She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and she's also appeared on Scare Tactics and has performed with Second City.

The idea of putting together a podcast came as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Oxborrow had been talking to Ash over Zoom, and the conversation turned to the Netflix series Unsolved Mysteries.

"One night we kind of got a little too far into talking about Unsolved Mysteries and she was like 'you know what I think people would really love hearing this.' I wasn't so sure and so I said, yeah, sure let's just go for it, and before you know it we've got a podcast," Oxborrow said.

Oxborrow and Ash had been recording for the past three or four weeks and officially launched True Crime and Cocktails last week.

The first season will focus on the new episodes of Unsolved Mysteries. Oxborrow said they will pick an episode and she will spend 50 to 60 hours each week researching the topic.

When they first started out, Oxborrow wasn't too sure how many listeners they would have, but so far it has exceeded her expectations.

"We had no idea how this was going to go, so I think our first-day goal we thought if we could even get 750 listens for the three episodes that we put out on the first day that would be great. We hit almost 750 per episode."
