The COVID-19 pandemic has retirement communities across the world, country, and city on high alert.

Here in Moose Jaw, West Park Retirement community already has safety measures in place.

General Manager Jeff Fox.

"We were given a couple of signs from head office basically saying 'Stop, if you have a fever, cough or arent feeling well we ask you to come back when your feeling better.' the signage went up right away. We have a special screening document at the reception desk, so we ask the date, who you are if you feel ill, and your phone number."

Fox says there could be a lot stricter measures in-store.

"If you're healthy it's not that severe but if your 80 years old in an assisted living facility that's who it attacks. We're taking this very seriously, if we're having 3 meetings every week going forward it's ramping up."

Fox says the meetings will between the Global Leadership teams, which includes all the GMs, all the administrators, longterm care, as well as regional directors and directors, to discuss current risk levels, and what other precautions can be taken.
