With close to 15,000 votes submitted, Scott Moe became the new leader of the Saskatchewan Party this weekend and will eventually become the next Premier of our province. While it came down to two leaders, Moe and Alanna Koch, members of the Sask Party celebrated Moe taking leadership.

Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence was one of the many Moe supporters and is excited about the future.

"He put together a good team of MLAs and we've all built the party." said Lawrence after the vote. "I think we're going to be stronger for this."

MLA for Moose Jaw North Warren Michelson didn't have Moe pegged as his choice but believes he will still be a good leader. "I'm quite satisfied with the way things turned out. My first choice didn't win but I think, in the long run, the people's choice did win and the party is the overall winner."

Moe’s leadership campaign platform included spending $30 million to hire 400 educational assistants, reinstating the PST exemption on crop, life and health insurance, and replacing the Ministry of Economy with a Ministry of International Trade and Exports.

The 44 year-old MLA for Rosthern-Shellbrook defeated Alanna Koch on the fifth ballot at the Sask Party leadership convention in Saskatoon on Saturday with 53.87 per cent of the 14,989 votes cast.
