The week started off on a high note for Hunger in Moose Jaw after they recieved a cheque from a local group.

An event called GAX, hosted by the Moose Jaw Gamers Association, collected $1,250 and this was donated to the non-profit group.

"They came by with a giant cheque for us, which will go towards our child nutrition program," said Executive Director for Hunger in Moose Jaw, Sharla Sept. "Every dollar counts, even if it's only $5. But those bigger cheques come in and they provide a lot - just to give an idea, it'll provide about a full week's worth of lunches that will go out to the kids."

Association Member and avid gamer, Kristian Sjoberg, said there were local ties to Hunger in Moose Jaw and that's what ultimately lead them to choose the group as their recipient.

"We have a couple of memebers who benefitted from (Hunger in Moose Jaw), and they made that clear to us... and they said they probably wouldn't have made it through high school without these kinds of programs," explained Sjoberg.

Organizers are already in the planning stages for their next GAX event that will take place in the summer, and they said registration will be open shortly to those who are interested in signing up.
