A Hallmark Christmas movie directed by Moose Jaw product Jeff Beesley is getting rave reviews in the United States.

‘Project Christmas Wish’ has been showing on the Hallmark Channel south of the border throughout the holiday season.

The movie stars Amanda Schull from the 2000 movie Center Stage and Travis Van Winkle from the 2009 version of Friday the 13th and 2007’s Transformers movie.

Beesley said it was also the film debut for actress Averie Peters, who he said has a bright future in films.

‘Project Christmas Wish’ was shot in Carman, Man. this past fall. Beesley outlined the plot of the movie.

“It's basically about a woman whose goal in life is to make people's Christmas wishes come true, and she does and she hooks up with this kid, whose dream is to have a Christmas because she hasn't had one in a long time because her mom passed away and her changes are wishing at the 11th hour that her dad would find love.”

To add to the local content, Moose Jaw chiropactor Dr. Kyle Kelbert was an extra in the movie.

Kelbert made mention at work one day that he would like to be an extra in a Christmas movie and it was overheard by one of his co-workers Kelly Millar.

Millar is a friend of Beesley’s and sent him messages asking if there was a way to make Kelbert’s dream come true. Sure enough, Beesley pulled through to get Kelbert into the movie and had a very small speaking role.

“I'm seen about a half a dozen times just in background shots because essentially that's what I was as a background performer, but I would say it's in about three-quarters of the way through where there's the scene where I have an interaction with Travis, the lead actor, and where I'm featured front and center,” Kelbert said.

‘Project Christmas Wish’ will be shown on Christmas Eve on the Hallmark Channel in the United States and will make its debut in Canada on Boxing Day on the W Network.
