The nominees for the 2020 Saskatchewan Music Awards have been announced and there's a familiar name on the list.

Lumsden-based musician Justin La Brash has been nominated for Best Country Artist along with the likes of The Hunter Brothers, Samara Yung, and Tenille Arts.

LaBrash says being nominated is a big honour.

"It's actually my third year on the ballot and I can tell you that it never feels less special. I'm amongst a bunch of A-list artists there so I'm just honoured to be considered within that same range."

Even so, he's not letting the limelight take his mind away from what's really important.

"My biggest honour is the fan's choice because I think that's the highest honour that an artist can get 'cause it's voted on by the fans."

LaBrash was one of the few artists who were able to perform in Moose Jaw this summer during his drive-in concert tour. He says getting to perform safely all over the province was a huge privilege.

"You know, it just started with a little idea to try a drive-in show and it turned into a full-fledged tour. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and how everybody got on board to support it."

LaBrash and his band performed in Moose Jaw on July 10, with a portion of the proceeds going to Joe's Place.

LaBrash is still facing the cold and will be performing another drive-in show this Saturday, Dec. 19, in Estevan.

He's also got a Christmas special coming up that was filmed on his farm and at the Happy Nun in Forget, SK.
