The Moose Jaw Public Library will be extending its hours starting Nov. 2 and some in-person program will be returning.

The new hours will be Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday’s hours will remain from 1 to 5 p.m.

“It's still hard to go back to our full regular hours because of all the new stuff we have to do related to people's safety in the library, but we hope that this gives people more opportunities to use their library,” said head librarian Gwen Fisher.

Some of the services that are available at the library right now include public access to computers and the reading room in the Heritage portion of the library is open for studying Browsing collection for children and adults are available in the main library as well as pick-up for held items.

Due to the pandemic, there is screening at the door and voluntary contract tracing. Patrons over the age of nine are asked to wear masks and face shields are available for those not comfortable with masks and physical distancing is encouraged.

That week will also see the return of in-person programming for the first time since March.

Preschool Storytime for those ages two to five will resume on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Baby Story for those under two runs Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

As a safety precaution, there will be extra cleaning during these programs and singing will be limited.

“We've had to reduce the number of people that can attend, but they are open to everybody. There are some spots still available and we are taking safety measures so that everybody will be safe,” Fisher said.

Other adult and youth programming are taking place virtually.
