Countless hours, effort, dedication and passion from everyone in part with Joe's Place Youth Centre were poured into a movie - Level Up 2019, a multi-media production.

"Voltage this year was amazing, it was sold out, we had 550 youth 150 volunteers, so we had over 700 people in the building. It was a blast, it was a great event from beginning to end, lots of activities to keep the kids safe and having fun and using their gifts and talents, so it was awesome" explains Joe Dueck.

The youth had lots of fun, were challenged and encouraged by all the contests, performers, prizes and of course, the powerful Voltage Drama Production. Many enjoyed different events ranging from a puppy room to laser tag, axe throwing to bazooka ball. The hundreds of teenagers that attended also had the chance to hang out with Iron Man, Batman, and the special Juno-award-winning band, The Color.

Leading up to Voltage 2019, a number of youth learned job skills as part of Media Alliance. They hand-made props and costumes, and learned how to use power tools, sewing, painting, and worked electronics. A lot of the kids had the opportunity to be actors in the epic "Level Up" multimedia production.

"We used to call it a skit, it's probably more accurately described as a mega multimedia production that we work six months on to perform live, it's got a cast and crew of 90 people so there are all kinds of characters and costumes, it's an original script that we put together, original audio and production elements. It all gets preformed live, this last one was 36 minutes long but then we capture it from 6 cameras and then edit that into a movie so that it can continue to live and people can go back and re-watch it again because we put a lot of work into something that only gets performed once." Says film director, Jeremy Ratzlaff.
