The Regina Realtors Association, which encompasses Moose Jaw and surrounding area, have released numbers for the housing market in January.

Looking at the numbers, it reveals that a lower number of houses are being put up for sale is down for last month, but this is on par for last month.

"You know, from a sales activity stand point, we're pretty consistent with the averages we've seen over the last few years," explained Manager of Operations and Member Services, Rob Reynar. "The region is down a little bit, the city is up a little bit. From a listing perspective, however we are seeing fewer listings coming onto the market to start the year."

Some people may see the low number of listings going up as a bad sign, but as Moose Jaw and region already has a high housing inventory, it could be beneficial in the long run.

"We certainly do have a high level of inventory for the region, and I would say a high level of inventory for the city as well," Reynar added. "So if less listings are coming on, maybe that gives the opportunity for the sales to eat in to some of that existing inventory."

Reynar did say that the "listing season" starts in the second quarter of the year, so these low numbers are not uncommon.
