Anyone regular to Lake Diefenbaker might possibly notice a slight change in the water levels.

Due to below normal rainfall in Southern Alberta and high water use in the province caused declining inflows, the Water Security Agency (WSA) is working hard to protect against lower reservoir outflows later in the year and maintain a desirable level at Lake Diefenbaker.

The WSA is currently using the Gardiner Dam to manage both the South Saskatchewan River in Alberta and Lake Diefenbaker. They'll be reducing the outflow from 425 m3/s to 100 m3/s over the next two weeks.

This will hopefully keep the lake at the desirable level, but will drop downstream water levels for the river. It will still remain in regular range for this time of year though.

The WSA is trying their best to keep Lake Diefenbaker at levels that can support summertime recreation, but downstream users at the Gardiner Dam may notice the drop in levels.
