The Kinsmen Club turned 100 years old today February 20th and all across Canada flags were raised to commemerate the anniversary.

At 10 o clock on Thursday the flag was raised at Tourism Moose Jaw just behind Mac The Moose.

Tanya Heisler is with the Kinnetes and is the Deputy Governor for Zone G. She detailed what it's like to celebrate 100 years.

"This feels great, I've been a member since 2002 so I've been a member for a long time and the history of Kin Canada is really quite amazing starting in 1920. It's really amazing what's been done in the last 100 years, and we're excited to be here."

Heisler explained why she got involved with the organization.

"I joined the Kinnette club to meet people. I moved here from Rolo, I went to school in Winnipeg and when I moved to Moose Jaw in 2001 I didn't really know anyone so I joined in order to meet people. My parents were members of Kinsmen and Kinnettes years ago in Yorkton and Swift Current so I knew about it from them."

The local Kinsmen Club was established in 1942 and takes part in numerous volunteer initiatives throughout Moose Jaw including the Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Banquet, Moose Jaw Kinsmen Minor Football, Moose Jaw Kinsmen Wrestling Club, Kinsmen Safe Ride, the Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade, and much more.
