What is hope to you?

The Journey2Hope Youth Chapter in Moose Jaw is asking for all young artists in Grades 9-12 to take a step out into their community for suicide prevention and awareness.
An Art Exhibition, "Hope is..." will be held from August 1st to September 14th in the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre Art Gallery.

Della Ferguson, Facilitator of Journey to Hope Moose Jaw, explained their organizations' purpose.

"Journey2Hope is working on suicide prevention and awareness for all people in our community. We believe strongly in the need of raising hope to help people know that there are resources available to them when they are feeling despair in their life."

The exhibit will display the submitted artworks and will be accepting all mediums, as spoken by Ferguson.

"..and it was their way of wanting to encourage people to express what hope means to them through any type of art medium, so whether it be drawing, painting, poetry, digital art, anything, photography, we just would love to see the different expressions of that."

The submissions must be in by July 20th in order to be included in the exhibit, and all submissions must be from high school students here in Moose Jaw. To submit artwork or to find more information, email at dferguson@sasktel.net, or visit their website.

"(We) just encourage people to take the time they're off on summer break to let their creative expression flow, and see what rises up when they think about hope, and possibly, they might help others find their hope through their expressions."
