The Journey to Hope group is back with their annual walk, but their message remains the same.

There's help and support if you need it and there's always someone willing to listen.

Each year they host a number of events throughout the month to spread awareness about sucide and prevention, while also giving people who have lost a loved one to sucide a chance to share their story and recall the memories.

"It's that opportunity as a community to very clearly stand together with those who experienced loss and those who are feeling loss of hope," explained Grief Support Worker with W.J. Jones & Sons Funeral Home, Della Ferguson. "We can talk about it, but when we have it face to face, it really solidifies that."

Ferguson and Donna Bowyer, with the Canadian Mental Health Association, help to facilitate the event each year along with the Journey to Hope Committee.

Bowyer noted it's evident that residents of Moose Jaw want to help their neighbors and others who live in the city who may be struggling with mental health and thoughts of suicide.

"When I go throughout the province, Moose Jaw is probably the community that has the most interest and the most people that are reaching out and saying I'll be there for you if you're having thoughts of suicide."

The Journey to Hope event kicks off on Saturday at 10 am with registration and pledge return, followed by opening and closing ceremonies and the walk itself.
