Their support and efforts to spread awareness are a year round endeavor for the members of Journey to Hope in Moose Jaw.

Just before the holidays kicked off they made a donation to Wakamow Manor, a detox center in our city. This is also something they did last year at this time, and they dropped off 150 journals and 150 bracelets.

"We did the same thing last year and when I talked to Chad Topp, he is the manager there, he said they were so well received," said spokesperson for Journey to Hop, Della Ferguson. "That people when they came into detox that they gave them the journal and their bracelet and they were excited to start doing the work, their soul work."

"People need that support, there's so much stress going on, and moving into the addiction of choice, is one of the ways they're trying to cope. It's not a healthy way, but we know that underneath it all they have stuff going on and we want to support them in working on that."

She added that finding an outlet to release feelings and thoughts can be very beneficial to someone's recovery and is a practice they can continue long-term.

"It is ultimately important to find a way to express, there are ever so many ways, the most important and valuable thing to do though is to find a way to express, experience it and get it out. It stays within us until we find a way to release it, writing for some can really be a wonderful expression."

Ferguson noted that Journey to Hope continues to partner with local groups, school divisions and encourage people to be kind to themselves and others.
