Raising funds and awareness for suicide awareness is what they do. Journey to Hope is made up of individuals from Moose Jaw and the surrounding area who are members of the Survivors of Suicide Support Group or have been affected by a loss through suicide.

"I find that what people do is gain an understanding of what depression can do and it's profound affect and the value of reaching out to people who are depressed." said Spokesperson Della Ferguson. "This isn't just a quick fix, this isn't just a change your mind. This is a healing process."

Ferguson adds that they want to break the stigma and end the silence around mental health and mental illness so people can come forward and get the help that they need.

Journey to Hope has a few fundraising events planned for next month including a rib and ceaser night at Smitty's and Bugsy's on September 5th, then on the 10th to mark World Suicide Prevention Day they are encouraging everyone to dress in yellow and come out to their bike around the world event at the YMCA.

Although Journey to Hope is under the umbrella of  the Canadian Mental Health Association, all of the funds raised stays local and stays within the health region.
