As the Christmas season arrives in full swing and Saskatchewan is seeing a steady drop in cases in the pandemic, domestic flights across the country have almost doubled in price.

Air Canada and West Jet are the top operating plane companies in the province. Their prices for a one-way ticket from Regina to Toronto can vary from $500 - $1100 for a basic economy flight. When a little over a month ago, the average for a one-way ticket was worth $90 - $200. The flights get more and more expensive the farther east you're looking to travel and the prices are just as high heading west as well.

Prices are predicted to stay this high until mid-January at the earliest.

Flight costs usually depend on the time of year and the supply and demand of travel. People haven't seen their families in years, and the high prices are not stopping people from buying tickets and visiting family this season.
