Former Moose Javian Layne Pethick has been an educator in Texas and has worked with kids with autism for over a decade. He has written many published articles, and has spoken at a number national and international conferences. This week, he's in Moose Jaw talking to local parents.

He's already spoken about how too much screen time, like cell phones, television or videos games, impacts the brain and Friday, he's hosting an information session on Autism at the Heritage Inn.

"I'm deep into the neurological factors that affect learning and behaviour with children." said Pethick. "A lot of my information, training and talks are based around the brain and things that people need to pay attention to... it's the best way to understand children and get information on looking at kids in a different manner."

The Riverview Graduate says recognizing how someone with autism processes information and how stress can effect their brain, helps us look at the child for who they are on the inside.
